Alice is a painter, walker and explorer based in Cornwall, UK. Her current practice is rooted in landscape and each body of work begins as an exploration of a specific place. As she moves through the moorlands, coastlines and woodlands that she is fortunate to find on her doorstep and pauses to appreciate new perspectives through her mark making. From these studies, bodies of work develop, and her experience of each place is distilled and abstracted within her paintings. Through the process of creating her compositions, she is fascinated by the meeting of elements within a landscape and how those meetings respond to one another.

Alice uses a mixed media approach to capture the details and expansiveness of these unique landscapes, from foraging in the undergrowth, to watching birds take flight and plummet back to land. Her primary materials are pastels, acrylic paint and charcoal: through playing with the interrelationship of these processes, Alice mirrors the interconnectedness of these places in a way that holds and celebrates their essence..
