Solo show- ‘Coalescence’
2nd December 2023 - 3rd January 2024
I am so excited to invite you all to my upcoming solo show ‘Coalescence’ this winter. The show will be made up of a series of my coastal paintings inspired by Cornwall, painted between 2021. I have taken inspiration from the depths of Cornwall and it’s wild winds and waters of St.Just, across the county to the long sandy beaches of Whitsand Bay.
The private view will be held on Friday December 1st (6-8pm) @OceanStudios, PL1 3RP

“The gallery is also thrilled to exhibit work from three new artists! Enjoy serene evocations of land, sea and sky from Rosemary Scott; Alice Robinson-Carter‘s new work captures the expansiveness of the unique Cornish landscape; and Sophie Abbott‘s atmospheric abstracts bring a joyous sense of colour and hint at the sense of excitement the sea has in the spring.
All work is available to view and purchase in our gallery at Westcotts Quay, St. Ives, and online. We ship nationally and internationally, and offer a variety of gallery services including interest-free payment plans. “Slate Publishing House is delighted to share the launch of Alice Robinson-Carter's Open Studio event, which will run from Thursday 9th - Sunday 12th December. Alice is an independent artist, painter and print-maker, who has recently taken up a residency at Ocean Studios, a creative hub for artists across a wealth of creative disciplines, nestled in the heart of the Royal William Yard, Plymouth.
Slate is dedicated to providing a public platform for emerging artists and authors. We have thoroughly enjoyed supporting Alice in her transition from graduate to fully-fledged solo artist, and have been so inspired by the development of her signature style and technique during her role as Artist-in-Residence over the past year.
In Alice's first independent open studio exhibition, she will showcase a recent artistic study that has been produced under the creation direction of Slate. Alice will present an exploration of the magnificent and expansive landscape of Dartmoor; an exceptional evocation of place that spans 44 pieces, from large scale canvas paintings, to smaller mixed media artwork on board and paper. The distinctive character of Dartmoor is expressed beautifully through Alice's experimentation with colour, texture and shape. All pieces are available for purchase, and Alice welcomes expressions of interest regarding the artwork displayed, as well as inviting visitors into her own studio to discuss her artistic practice.
This open studio event will be of interest to all writers that have submitted their own literary contributions to the Dartmoor Collection's anthology, currently in production. Slate has guided Alice's study of Dartmoor, which will now be showcased as an exhibition in it's own right to celebrate and conclude Alice's journey with us over the past year. This is a unique opportunity to view the original artwork that will inform the aesthetic and design of the Dartmoor Collection. Crops, prints and hand-picked elements of these larger pieces will be applied throughout the design of the anthology, letterpress prints, sketchbooks and other components of the Dartmoor Collection, to be launched in Spring 2022.”
